Welcome to SMITH Northview Hospital
Located in the beautiful city of Valdosta in South Georgia, SMITH Northview Hospital's desire and dedication is to provide quality healthcare to our Valdosta community and the surrounding region of Southern Georgia. From our caring and compassionate staff to our online resources, we are ready to assist you and your family with all of your medical needs.
SMITH Northview RN Gail Rice and Hahira Elementary School Counselor Susan Brock are surrounded by presents collected for the Families Needing Angels program. For over 14 years SMITH Northview employees have provided invaluable support to this cause and have brought joy into the hearts of hundreds of children. Although SMITH Northview employees were only asked to provide for the elementary school children, they found it in their hearts to provide gifts for all the children in the selected families. These children range in age from two months to 15 years old. This year eight families were helped and more than 300 gifts were collected.

Today, December 7, 2011 marks the first anniversary of the establishment of the Joseph M. Still Outpatient Burn Clinic at SMITH Northview Hospital. The clinic brings high-quality, convenient burn care to residents. Since its establishment the clinic has treated over 2,081 patients from over 175 cities across south Georgia and north Florida. The clinic, which is open on Wednesdays, is staffed by doctors and mid-level practitioners from the Joseph M. Still Burn Centers, Inc., which is located in Augusta, GA, and clinical professionals from SMITH Northview. Currently, the clinic treats between 35 and 60 patients weekly. "Our goal is to save the patient from having to travel to Augusta for initial treatment or follow-up visits," said Dr. Fred Mullins, president of JMSBC, Inc., and the medical director of Joseph M. Still Burn Center at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga. - the largest burn center in the nation.
Dr. Mullins concluded, "We have treated patients from two days old to 105 years old, and a third of our patients are children. We've seen patients with burns ranging from less than 1 percent to more than 95 percent. We treat every case as a learning opportunity, and that has helped us maintain our 97 percent survival rate."
Treatments available through the clinic include weekly dressing changes, education on the management of wounds and scar tissue, debridement (surgical removal of dead tissue), skin grafting and procedures for scar reconstruction.
Problem burns are nothing to ignore, especially when specialized treatment options are available. Contact the clinic at SMITH Northview by calling the JMSBC toll-free number at 877-863-9595 for more information.
