Critical Care Unit

CCU room 1

Our SMITH Northview Hospital Critical Care Unit has a four-bed intensive care unit and a four bed intermediate care unit. The focus of the critical care unit is to provide expert care to patients within an atmosphere of interdisciplinary collaboration. Using advanced patient monitoring technology and sophisticated medical equipment, we provide continuous, comprehensive care for patients with serious conditions, including those recovering from heart attacks, Congestive heart failure, stroke or complex illnesses. The patient care delivery model is a patient-focused model, supported by primary nursing. Patient focused care is evidence-based high quality care that is comprehensive, accessible, supportive personalized care.

Special monitoring equipment keeps our nurses constantly informed about each patient's vital signs and alerts the staff to any changes in a patient's condition.

Each of our private ICU rooms was created with a spacious design to accommodate all of the necessary medical equipment and still have plenty of room for loved ones to visit.

Because we use electronic medical records, authorized members of the patient's care team have instant access at all times to the most up-to-date patient information. Physicians can view this information, via secure Internet access, from any computer in the hospital, from their offices or even from home.

Intermediate care unit

Patients in the intermediate care unit (IMCU) are acutely or chronically ill and often are admitted from the intensive care. Nurses take the lead in coordinating care for patients who require continuous monitoring and observation, with special emphasis given to respiratory, cardiac and surgical disorders.

Visiting

The visiting hours is from 10am to 8pm. Two family members may be in the unit during each visiting period. Visitors must be at least 12 years of age. All visitors must wash their hands before they come into the unit. Clean hands save lives. In some cases, visitors may need to wear a gown, mask, and gloves. We believe that quiet hospitals help healing.
