Volunteer Services

Thank you for expressing an interest in our Volunteer Services. We are delighted that you are willing to share your time, talent, and enthusiasm at SMITH Northview Hospital. Our patient care is greatly enriched through the participation and commitment of volunteers.As a volunteer, you are a valuable member of our health care team. Your contributions enhance the comfort of patients, family members, guests, and staff. Whether you are working directly with patients or providing other supportive services, your assistance makes a significant difference.

We offer several different opportunities for Volunteers. Applications may be dropped off at the Human Resources Department or faxed to 229-671-2010.

Adult Volunteer: This group of adults provide a variety of services to patients and visitors. Duties are assigned based on the volunteers interests and strengths. This program allows for very flexible hours. Volunteers are encouraged to donate 100 hours or more each year, or at minimum, 2 hours a week. This active group is a member of the Council of Auxiliaries/Volunteer of the Georgia Hospital Association. Following an application, interview, and background check, the volunteer may be accepted into the program. A short orientation and training will follow. College Volunteer: This volunteer opportunity is geared towards the college student interested in earning clinical experience. Following a short application, interview, and background check, the volunteer may be accepted into the program. The volunteer must have a "B" average and provide 2 letters of reference. A short orientation and training will follow. The Clinical Educator is responsible for administering the clinical experience of the volunteer and will match the desired clinical experience with the assigned department and duties. Physician Shadowing: If you are interested in shadowing a Physician, the volunteer must create a relationship with one of the Physicians who have privileges. If you would like to know what Physician's in our area have privileges, you may contact the Medical Staff Secretary at 229-671-2022. Once a relationship has been established, the Physician has agreed to a Shadowing arrangement, the Physician will contact the Medical Staff Secretary at 229-671-2022 to discuss the process.
