About Smith Northview Hospital
Smith Hospital in Hahira had 71 beds, 1 Operating Room, 1 Delivery Room, and approximately 6 full time physicians before making the move to a new site closer to Valdosta in June, of 2002. SMITH Northview Hospital opened 7 miles down the road with 29 beds (including 2 Labor Delivery Recovery Rooms), 8 Outpatient Surgical Rooms, and 2 Operating Rooms and approximately 100 physicians. The number of employees doubled with the move from approximately 140 to over 300 in order to accommodate the increase in patients, doctors, and surgeries. At present we have 6 Operating Rooms. Surgeries have increased from 40 per month (in Hahira) to more than 375 (2010 average) in the new facility. With the increase in OB/GYN Physicians, deliveries have increased from approximately 50 per year (in Hahira) to over 640 in 2010. As of December 2010, SMITH Northview Hospital currently employs 396 people with 130 physicians having privileges.
Our recent expansion project of the Labor & Delivery wing has added
2 Labor & Delivery suites and 3 Post Partum rooms, making a total of 5
suites and 9 Post Partum rooms to our Labor & Delivery Department. This expansion included additional room and
renovations to the L & D Nurse’s Station and Nursery. We have continued to
grow since the transition from Hahira, and currently have a total of 45
Inpatient Private Rooms, which includes ICU, IMCU, LDRP and Regular Rooms and
11 Out Patient Rooms for Out Patient Surgeries.
We have also implemented a successful Youth Pediatric After-Hours Clinic
(YPAC) and a new Spine Care Center. Our latest addition has been a rewarding
affiliation with the J.M S. Burn Center of Augusta, Georgia, and Dr. Fred
Mullins. Their team flies into Valdosta
every Wednesday to help our staff care for burn victims from all over the
Southeast.
